I stepped on a piece of glass and cut my heel. This stuff works great! After loosing 3 band aids my roommate let me try it out and the only time I have had to reapply it is after a shower. When walking around, you don't get the feeling like your skin is splitting so it must be strong. Ive been walking on the New Skin for 3 days and after the first application you don't feel the sting.

My roommate said it works great when you get a cut near the tip of you finger and have to type a lot.

I have messed around with this stuff in the field. Its great for small lacerations and abrasions. It does burn like a mother. If you are going out on longer trips, 1% provodine and syringe are a must. Take some bandages and transpore tape along too. The provodine is great for wound cleansing and as a skin prep for wound closures. The transpore tape makes great wound closures.

I write about missing, injured, rescued and dead hikers and climbers. Check it out.

Thanks for this reminder. One of my instructors at wilderness first aid training brought up this product and I never thought about it again. I didn't realize there were so many different brands. I've been subscribing to your RSS feed to help get ideas for blogs. This post gave me the initiative to do a little investigating of the other brands. I wrote it up at http://www.boyandgirlscouts.com/?p=24. Sorry if it's a little sloppy. I'm just getting started on this whole blog thing.

[...] Lightbackpacking.com has an article on New Skin, which is a brush-on adhesive for cuts, kind of like super-glue so that the cut stays closed and covered with the adhesive to keep out dirt. It also has an antiseptic that apparently burns like crazy when you put it on. Since I’m always losing my band-aids or they get used up and I forget to replace them I might look into these.
